This comparison utility is a great general-purpose comparison tool. It even has a plug-in architecture that allows one to add additional comparison plugins for different file types. It could be extended to handle merging jobs better- that's about the only thing that is missing- you can accomplish merging jobs but there is no special support for merging.

Scooter Software has also released a stripped down version of Beyond Compare that integrates into the Delphi 2006 IDE and allows comparing of the files in the __history folder. This is easier to use than the built in comparison of Delphi. It is offered from the Borland download page for registered users (see Free 3rd party tools). This is based on the QC Entry #12162.
